ABSTRACT
O sorriso gengival é uma queixa constante e o seu tratamento emprega desde métodos simples, como o uso da toxina botulínica, até os mais complexos, como a cirurgia ortognática. Este trabalho relata o tratamento do sorriso gengival através da biomodelação bucofacial, que cria um anteparo na região da fossa canina e evita a exposição gengival exagerada ao sorrir, devido à ação ampla do músculo elevador do orbicular da boca.
The gummy smile is a frequent complaint and its treatment ranges from simple methods, such as the use of botulinum toxin, through even the most complex, like orthognathic surgery. This paper reports the treatment of a gummy smile by lip biomodelling, which creates a buffer region in the canine fossa and prevents from excessive gingiva exposure when smiling due to the action of the large muscle originated from the orbicularis oris.
